More good news for shoe fetishists (AKA me) - Wittner is having a final reduction sale, with some items up to 70% off the original price.
You can shop for some items online, but if you’re near an actual Wittner store, I’d recommend paying it a visit instead, because there is a greater selection of sale items in-store.
The Wittner site is one of those annoying sites that won’t let you link straight to individual items, so I can’t link through to my pick of the sale - these Arcadia booties, which are going for $99.95, down from $209.95. The good news is there is still plenty of winter left to get some wear out of them!

Wittner has some decent shoe sales from time to time, and at the moment there is a selection of the range on sale for $50.
The reductions are available both online and in-store, though I think the selection of available shoes is somewhat larger in-store (plus you don’t have to pay for shipping).
I think the Leilah style picture here is pretty cute. It also comes in bubble gum pink, which is a bit over the top for my liking, but the black version would do well for work shoes.
If you want to check out the sale shoes for yourself, head into your nearest Wittner store.

There is always one pair of shoes that you see everywhere in any given season and I predict that the Siren Cunning shoes will have that honour over spring and summer.
During Autumn it was the Wittner Sassy shoes, which I rushed out and bought in black after seeing them in every magazine and have subsequently only worn twice.
But after seeing the Siren Cunning shoes in Shop Til You Drop recently, I reckon they’re going to make an impact.
I have to say, they aren’t really my cup of tea. I know, I know, a pair of heels that isn’t my cup of tea - shocking. Nonetheless, they’re a bit too flashy for my current tastes, but I can see how many people would love them.
You can pre-order the Cunning heels now at Sassi Parella - they will retail for $129.95 but aren’t expected to arrive until early September (fortunately, because it’s way too cold for open toes at the moment).

I am quite taken with this floral tiered skirt from local label Lili.
While the words “floral tiered skirt” usually conjure up images of the mid-to-late 1980s, and I am usually thoroughly anti- anything 80s, for some reason this skirt doesn’t horrify me as it technically should.
In fact, I think it would look really nice for a winter night out with opaque black tights (Leona Edmiston, of course) and the black platform heels that are all the rage right now (such as the Wittner heels here. I own them and yes it was probably a stupid purchase).
The skirt retails for $139. Lili is stocked in Myer and selected boutiques around Australia.

I was wandering around a shoe trade show on Friday (it’s a tough life) and one trend seemed to keep popping up - hidden platforms.
Unlike visible platforms, which I can’t stand, hidden platforms give you some extra height without being too obvious as they are sit underneath the shoe’s exterior material.
Platforms also tend to be more comfortable than regular pumps as the balls of your feet aren’t in such direct contact to the ground.
I love this gorgeous pair from Wittner, which comes in black leather, black patent, purple croc and white croc, which is my favourite. They will set you back $189.95.
Some other options include this style from Mollini for $138 and this style from Scooter for $119.95.

If there’s one thing master shoe designer Christian Louboutin specialises in, it’s classic black pumps.
Any time you see a celebrity wearing a spiky black heel these days, it’s likely to be a Louboutin. See fashion victim Victoria Beckham here, Nicole Richie here and the three skanks here for some examples.
Those vertiginous numbers Nicole Richie is sporting are a style called Alti and while it’s sold out pretty much everywhere except second-hand on eBay, I’ve found a more affordable version at Wittner. Thankfully, they’re nowhere near as high, too - if you want to get an idea of how high the originals are, check out the pictures here.
The Wittner interpretation is a style called Yvette and will set you back just $169.95 - less than a quarter of the price of the originals. Check them out here.
The Yvette pumps also come in fire-engine red if you’re feeling particularly bold.

Lately I have been feeling that if I see just one more pair of gladiator sandals, I am going to scream.
Unfortunately it appears that there may be laryngitis in my future as it seems that currently you can’t walk two metres down the street without stumbling over someone wearing a pair.
I have to admit that when I first saw pictures of Kate Moss wearing gladiator sandals, I briefly thought the look was kind of cool. Not something I’d wear, but still fun to look at. Mind you, this was three years ago. Cut to now and now every school girl with an allowance and Shoobiz discount card is wearing them. What exactly is the appeal of people looking at you and being reminded of the year 2006. I don’t even like being reminded of last week.
I mean, come on. Enough is enough. What’s the appeal in wearing something that every second person on the street is wearing? A friend of mine was at the Big Day Out last week and in all seriousness estimated that 90% of the girls in attendance were wearing gladiator sandals. I’m guessing that’s a slight exaggeration, but probably not too far off the mark.
And does anyone else think that the majority of these sandals look spectacularly cheap. Like, the original gladiators were made of soft leather. Most of the el cheapo pairs favoured by today’s fashion victims look like they are fashioned from the same plastic that is used to make garden hoses.
Lately, an even more alarming gladiator sandal trend has become apparent. Girls wearing their gladiator sandals over leggings. ARGH! I’m sorry, but this is the height of stupidity. For one, my hatred of leggings could take up an entire vitriolic blog rant of its own. Secondly, we’re in the middle of a heatwave, obviously you are wearing sandals to stay cool, WHY NEGATE THAT WITH LEGGINGS?
The spectacularly fug pair pictured above are from Wittner and are on sale for $89.95. I’m sorry, but black patent gladiator sandals? I just laughed out loud.
