File on Style

File on Style

I just discovered a new site called File on Style, which offers some decent discounts on Australian designer fashion.

The e-boutique has some older styles from brands such as Piper Lane, Hussy, Bless’ed are the Meek and Natasha Gan.

I’m desperately short of knitwear and warm clothes as we head into another winter, so I’m leaning towards this Sweet Sensations cardigan from Piper Lane.

It’s marked down to $84 and would be perfect for layering right through until spring.

ASOS mid-season sale

ASOS mid-season sale

Online shopping site ASOS commenced its mid-season sale yesterday and prices are up to 50% off.

Because this is a UK-based site, this is great news for us here in Australia because it’s mostly winter fashion that’s on sale. Even when you factor in the shipping (which isn’t too much for an international site), you still come out of it all right - especially if you buy a few things with once or partner up with someone else to save on shipping.

It’s worth checking out the knitwear for some bargains for the upcoming winter season - I’m not usually a fan of bright yellow but this yellow cardigan appeals to me, and it’s reduced to US$34.19.

$30 Witchery voucher

$30 Witchery voucher

I firmly believe it pays to join any loyalty programs of shops you tend to frequent, and Witchery has once again proven me right.

Everyone who becomes a member of the new Witchery Loyalty Program will receive a free $30 voucher, which can be spent in-store on anything from the main Witchery or Witchery Man ranges. I perused the Ts and Cs and couldn’t see anything about not being able to use it on sale items, so you could pick up a real bargain.

As further incentive, members will also earn reward points plus get 5% off sale items permanently, and you can also track your purchase history online.

My favourite item from the range at the moment is this pretty violet finewool cardigan, which would be reduced to $69.95 with the discount.

To join the loyalty program and claim your reward you can either head into your nearest Witchery store or buy a copy of the latest marie claire or Men’s Health magazines.

Country Road black wool cardigan

Country Road black wool cardigan

This is a difficult time of year to dress appropriately for.

One day it’s all hot and humid and disgusting and feels like high summer, the next days it’s cooler and you can tell we’re definitely heading into the cooler weather.

Personally I’m not ready to admit defeat just yet and break out my winter coats and jumpers… what you really need is a light knitted wool cardigan to throw over the top of your outfit when the weather cools down.

That way you can still get away with wearing your summer tops and dresses, but avoid feeling the chill.

This Country Road black wool cardigan is one good option, available now for a very reasonable $99.

Country Road long cardigan

Country Road long cardigan

I hate the weather at this time of year. You never know if it’s going to be hot or cold. Particularly in the Lasoo office where it is apparently -10 degrees Celsius at all times and I was actually considering bringing a parka and gloves one day last week.

I really need something to throw over the top of my outfit for work that’s warm enough for the icy cold depths of the Lasoo office, but also light enough to survive mild winds and cooler weather outside. And easy to carry around if I decide to take it off. I love the look of the long cardigan from Country Road, pictured here, a lightweight knit that comes in a range of colours (pictured here in port wine). Plus, how good does it look with a skinny belt around the waist?

It’s kind of depressing that it’s almost time to get my David Lawrence trench coat dry cleaned again for winter… where did the summer go?

The Country Road long cardigan sells for $119.

Winter at Country Road

Winter at Country Road

We’re well and truly into the cold weather and if you haven’t already stocked up on gloves, scarves and other winter warmers, it’s time to do it.

Today was one of those mornings where I got into work and my fingers were so cold I had trouble typing for about half an hour and I was cursing myself for forgetting my gloves today.

Ah, my gloves. I love these babies. I bought them from Country Road last winter and they were truly an investment piece - long, black gloves that stop just below the elbow made of the softest leather you’ve ever felt. And they’re so warm as well.

Country Road has some more covetable accessories this season as well - you can see them at the website.

One of my favourites is the peak beanie with buttons, RRP $39.95 (pictured above left), which comes in either black, blue or grey.

I’m also loving the items pictured below, from left to right - black knitted glove, RRP $59.95; deep orange multi-coloured scarf, RRP $$59.95; and birch basket weave wrap, RRP $79.95.
