Fashion under $50

Fashion under $50

Now here’s a great idea for anyone on a budget (i.e. most of us) - a fashion site where nothing costs more than $50.

Fashion Under $50 is a brand new site from the people behind the Alibi clothing site, so you know these pieces will be fashionable and of decent quality.

If you haven’t found a coat for winter yet, this trenchcoat is very chic and amazing value at just $49.95.

And you should check out the knitwear section if you still haven’t stocked up for winter.

Alibi jewellery

Alibi jewellery

Alibi clothing I have long been a fan of, but I recently became aware of Alibi jewellery and its looks to be fairly decent (and inexpensive).

Plus, you can buy Alibi jewellery online. This fact is actually something of a double-edged sword, given that jewellery is the ultimate online impulse purchase. With clothes and shoes, you always have the “what if it doesn’t fit/suit me” factor holding you back. With jewellery, no such barrier.

Anyhow, I am liking the look of the range, such as the leopard head bracelet, pictured here, which goes for $39. I have a thing for animal jewellery, but if you like something a bit different, check out the cocktail rings (priced from $25).

Alibi and Wish sale

Alibi and Wish sale

You really have to love this time of year. All these great stocktake and mid-year sales. Unless of course you have barred yourself from spending, in which case it’s pure torture.

Anyhow, enough about my problems (I slipped up yesterday and bought a pair of shoes. Today I hate myself). The latest clothing sale to pop up is from Alibi and Wish and it’s available online.

What makes this one particularly great is that they’re not just clearing out summer stock - a lot of the sale clothes here are from the winter range.

One particular bargain that caught my eye is the Wish Burton jacket, which is reduced down to $79 from $129. Of course, at that price it isn’t real leather, but it looks pretty damn close in my opinion and I love the style. Unfortunately the jacket is only available in sizes 12 and 14, so you’ll need to get in quick to snap it up.

Alibi drape dress

Alibi drape dress

It was originally the colour of this dress from Alibi that caught my attention - I am a sucker for anything this shade of blue.

But then when I read that the dress can apparently be worn up to 20 different ways, then I thought “for $98, it would be uneconomical of me not to buy it”.

But all specious rationalisation of purchases aside, the dress is gorgeous and also comes in basic black. It can apparently be worn “Grecian, 40s style, backless 50s halter” style and even as a skirt.

The material itself is soft and stretchy, which is great for concealing those fat days that we all have from time to time, or in my case every second day.

This item can only be bought online - view it here.

Up to 50% off Wish and Alibi

Up to 50% off Wish and Alibi

Alibi and Wish are two labels that I love and am always excited to see reduced.

The prices tend to be on the expensive side for a mid-range label - around $150 for dresses and anywhere up to $100 for tops, for example. That’s a little too much for a quick hit “spend your last 50 bucks on something you really don’t need the day before payday” purchase.

The sales always tend to be good and the current online sale is no exception. Most pieces in the sale seem to be reduced by around 40% to 50%, which is a pretty hefty amount at these prices.

I love the Provence Sundress, pictured here, which is reduced to just $49 from $79. It would look great with bronze or gold accessories for day time or a casual dinner. I am currently causing myself some mental anguish deliberating over whether or not to buy it, considering my finances still need some rest and recuperation after the holidays. And by “rest and recuperation” I mean “does anyone know an immediate cure for cardiac arrest”.

You can view the sale and shop online here.
