Witchery Kids

Witchery Kids

The Witchery family is officially growing - expect to hear the pitter patter of tiny Witchery feet at the end of the month.

Joining Witchery and Witchery Man, Witchery Kids is set to launch online and in selected stores on August 27.

The site is a little sketchy on details at this stage, with no clear photos of pieces from the collection - but what we do know is that the range is aged at boys and girls between the ages of two and nine and is “inspired by up-to-minute adult trends, styled for the younger set”.

Expect more details closer to the launch date.

Polaroid Two review

Polaroid Two review

Anyone into their retro tech will be loving the recent resurgence of the Polaroid brand.

This time around, the Polaroid Two combines a touch of the old and a touch of the new. It’s a digital camera and printer all rolled into one with that famous Polaroid branding - offering a little 1980s nostalgia.

Also known as the Polaroid Pogo in other parts of the world, the Two relies more on the novelty factor than its extraordinary image/print quality and feature set. The idea of taking a digital snap then printing it off directly from the camera in under a minute will definitely appeal to gadget freaks. Adding to the novelty value is the fact that the prints double as stickers when you peel off the back.

Printing itself is an easy process - simply press the button and you’re away. Loading the paper is also fairly straightforward. On the down side, the prints are only very small (2-inches by 3-inches), which makes sense when you consider the maximum resolution is only 5-megapixels - blow the shots up any larger for print and image quality would be seriously compromised.

That being said, quality is pretty decent at smaller print sizes and for web (you can load the images to your computer via USB). You can fiddle with the limited controls (such as ISO and white balance) plus adjustments (red-eye and crop) to achieve better results.

The Polaroid Two retails for $269.95 and comes with 10 sheets of paper in the box.

Peeptoe Shoes Sydney sale

Peeptoe Shoes Sydney sale

Rejoice, fellow shoe fiends, for that all-important time of year is upon us yet again: the Peeptoe Shoes Sydney warehouse sale.

The warehouse sale starts in Alexandria this Friday at 9am and continues over the weekend, so get your credit card ready to go.

Shoes start from just $50, clutches from $25 and jewellery from $5 so you’re sure to find a bargain if you manage to make it along.

I think I need to steer clear of this one. I have been eyeing off these kicky little numbers for a little while, but probably don’t actually need them, no matter what I tell myself. The temptation of being at the sale would be way too much.

Wheels & Dollbaby Tea Party Holiday in St Tropez dress

I’ve most definitely gone off the Wheels & Dollbaby logo singlets in recent times, but other pieces in the collection are still gorgeous, if not incredibly tricky to wear.

Yes, this 1950s-style bombshell gear is definitely not for fainthearted, with most items being figure-hugging and made of fabrics such as velvet and satin. As we come to the end of my winter of crapulence, it currently feels like I’d have to lose approximately half my body weight to wear any of this gear. But I can always dream.

The new-season Wheels & Dollbaby Tea Party Holiday in St Tropez dress is so pretty that it actually has me considering going on a diet. And at $285, the price isn’t bad for a dress from this label either.

Just a caveat: while you can buy online from the W&DB site, I’d strongly advise against it, unless you’ve tried on pieces from the collection before and are familiar with the cut and sizing. There’s a lot of room for you to go wrong. For your first purchase, visit a bricks-and-mortar stockist.

Sony Walkman NWZ-B153 review

Sony Walkman NWZ-B153 review

When it comes to Sony product names, the B stands for Basic, so don’t expect anything groundbreaking from the Sony Walkman NWZ-B153 MP3 player.

The B153 is one of those basic USB-style devices that have been around since the dawn of MP3 players. They don’t tend to offer a raft of features, but are valuable mainly because of their simplicity. Such is life with the B153 - you don’t need any special software installed on your computer to operate it, you can simply drag and drop your tracks straight onto the drive, as you would any USB device. Alternatively, you can load them through Windows Media Player - the advantage of this being that you can create playlists.

It’s a small player, so Sony has minimised the number of buttons on the exterior. It comes equipped with a jog dial plus play/pause button. There’s also a small LCD screen which displays the four icons of the home screen (Voice, Music Library, FM radio, Settings). As mentioned above, beyond this, features are minimal, though one noteworthy inclusion is Quick Charge, which allows you to connect the player for just three minutes to get around 1.5 hours of playback.

As you’d expect from a Walkman-branded player, audio quality is good, especially for the price. However the bundled earphones are not of great quality.

The Sony Walkman NWZ-B153 is available now for $89 for the 4GB model. It comes in blue, pink, red or black.

Alice + Olivia Danny layered tank dress

I was casually browsing on designer fashion outlet The Outnet this morning, minding my own business, when I cam across this cute little number.

The Alice + Olivia Danny layered tank dress would be perfect for the upcoming spring/summer season (on which I am now focused with the kind of single-minded determination I usually reserve for any kind of salty snack and bottles of champagne).

The blue colour is gorgeous and I’m also loving the reduced price - it’s marked down to 85 UK pounds, which is 60% off the original price.

Now I find myself faced with something of a dilemma. On the one hand, my car registration is almost due. On the other hand… this dress might not be there next week, right?

Adventure gifts for dad

Adventure gifts for dad

When I first heard we had a new retailer on Lasoo selling adventure experiences online called Adrenalin, I didn’t think there would be anything in it for me.

Sky-diving and V8 race car experiences are all well and good, but personally I am about as adventurous as a cold cup of tea and much prefer my home comforts.

Then I came across these cocktail making classes, which you can book online for $66.50 (it’s usually $70, but when you click through to the site enter the code LASOO to get 5% off everything). Now that I could do.

Cocktail making classes aside, there are some great gift ideas here for dad for Father’s Day. Personally, my old man’s idea of a top day out was heading down to the local RSL to do his dough on the horses (but wearing a special suit on Father’s Day to make the occasion more special). But if your dad is into swimming with sharks and army tank rides, these gifts will be right up your alley.

Cooper St McQueen maxi dress

Cooper St McQueen maxi dress

Blog updates about maxi dresses two days in a row could only mean one thing: spring is so close, you can almost smell it.

In fact, my desk buddy Christie and I yesterday decided that we are no longer acknowledging winter in any way, shape or form. There will be no more purchasing of anything with long sleeves, anything knitted or anything in a fabric heavier than cotton.

Anyhow, I recently saw this Cooper St McQueen maxi dress advertised on the side of a bus (this is where I get all my best fashion inspiration) and it was love at first sight. The colours and pattern are so summery, plus it looks long enough for my liking - some maxi dresses tend to be too short on tall girls and end up sitting around your mid-calves, which just looks stupid.

Cooper St clothing is stocked nationwide at Myer, plus selected boutiques and the flagship store in Bondi Junction, Sydney.
