Sony iPod Dock Clock Radio

Sony iPod Dock Clock Radio

Turning the TV off and bringing music to the home is a great way to bring the family together. The cheapest way to do this is to buy a digital radio and placing it in the living room. It’s amazing the difference it makes – just a little bit of music gets people actually talking!

The Sony iPod Dock Clock Radio has been tried and tested by Lasoo for a week to see not only what impact it had on the home but from a techno-geek perspective also (because, obviously this counts too!)

Lovers of Sony products will be pleased to hear that this one is now compatible with the iPhone –so forget digging out your iPod, you can now listen to music straight form your phone! It obviously has all the basic radio controls and setting to get you up in the morning too – so no more excuses. Waking up to music rather than an iPhone alarm is so much better for your body and mental state, so definitely make use of this function.

As for the music quality… the size of the speakers is great for amplifying sound in large rooms. We had it in a living room with tiled floors at half volume and it was amplified almost across the entire house! The Sony iPod Dock outperforms most products of this price range.

Overall, this is a great system for small BBQs and gatherings. The music does not get drowned out by groups of people – we had 20 people all chatting and singing at one point! This is a perfect simple music system for summer and entertaining friends. It really did make a difference to how much time the family spent chatting with each other too. A great buy for families that want to be a little more sociable!

Toys that Educate

Toys that Educate

The best toys to buy for children to keep them entertained and keep their minds occupied!

Deciding which toys to buy for children?

In a digital age, where kids as young as 5 are toting iPhones and other ‘adult’ gadgets, it’s important to find the right toy to provide a wholesome and interactive playful experience.

The idea of a toy for a child is to entertain and educate, keeping their minds occupied and providing a place where they can both gain knowledge and have fun – on their own, with friends and with you.

With the array of electronic products on the market, trying to find a toy that will get kids outside, active and social is more important than ever!

Lasoo offers a great variety of outdoor and indoor toys that provide fun and education without a screen.

When picking a toy you should consider:

1) Does this toy stimulate my child allowing them to investigate, explore and create?

2) Does this toy allow for sharing and interaction with other kids and myself?

3) Is this toy educating my child in an age appropriate way?

Something to remember with pre-school and school kids!

They will already have developed specific interests. Listening to your child and picking a toy, whether its sporting or musical in tune with their developing loves will reap the greatest rewards.

Lindt chocolate – why there’s one for almost every mood…

Choosing which chocolate to eat is very serious business. Between nutritional content, flavor, milk content and to share or not to share (who we kidding… we don’t share!) making chocolate decisions takes a little bit of know-how.

Our friends at Lindt however, have managed to make life a little easier, and much more delicious, by providing the right Lindt product for almost every occasion!

The master chocolatiers at Lindt have skillfully created a range of tempting chocolate flavours and textural delicacies that cater for the many moods that a discerning chocolate eater may have.

The Lindt Excellence range of chocolate blocks comes in an array of tantalizing flavours.

Here are our top four picks to match the right occasion.

Mint Intense: Enjoy this refreshing and smooth flavour, piece by piece, after dinner.

Madagascar Noir: To be nibbled on with a glass of red wine for a deeper and darker flavour craving.

Creamy Caramel: Indulge in a midday treat of caramel luxuriousness at your desk or at home.

Touch of Sea Salt: A little experiment for the curious chocolate connoisseur.

What ever you’ve dreamed of, Lindt has created it in chocolate. Rolled out into smooth blocks perfect for sharing, or indulging in privately, Lindt uses the finest roasted beans to ensure a deeply satisfying taste of excellence.

Children’s bikes

Children’s bikes

Take a moment and think back to your fondest childhood memory. I am sure for most of us learning to ride a bike stands out as one of those amazing moments in time we reflect upon as being our most cherished.

Teaching your child to ride a bike is such a great experience as a parent and one you will both enjoy. One moment you’re pushing them along and watching them wobble across the backyard and the next they’re speeding along street holding their arms in the air as if they’re part of a circus act.

If you want to avoid a potential parental heart attack, it pays to purchase a bike you feel is safe, reliable and sturdy – and of course, one that they like too! No one likes to hear their child moaning and whinging!

Things to look out for when buying a children’s bike:

Start young – it’s never too early to get your child used to riding a bike. Look at the range of baby walkers and entertainers that Lasoo has. This will get your child used to balancing and pushing themselves along. Managing your own weight is something that has to be learnt at an early age.

Next purchase a proper training bike, with stabilisers and the appropriate handles for parents to help their children along without interfering with their riding. The Kids 16″ (40.6cm) Bike with Rear Training Wheels Steel Frame is a good option as it’s study enough to take a few knocks and comes in a funky red colour!

When it comes to your child riding alone, find a bike that matches their age range. It is essential the size of the bike suits the size of their body. For ages 8-12 the Cyclops 50cm (20″) bike would be appropriate.

Whichever bike you choose, always make sure you purchase the appropriate safety gear for your child. A range of bike helmets and kneepads can be found in our Cycling Clothing and Protective Gear section.

And don’t forget the camera to capture those precious moments!

The best things to do in one hour…!

The best things to do in one hour…!

In a recent survey, 75% of Lasooers said that Lasoo saved them time. In fact, 37% of Lasoo customers said it saved them more than 1 HOUR!

Having the ability to do all your shopping in one place means you don’t have to traipse around the shops all day long, going from store to store aimlessly. This is not how Lasooers shop! They have a mission – they know what they want, when they want it. And as a result nearly 40% have more time!

So now we have an hour back… what are we going to do with it?!

Pamper:

In the Lasoo experiences category there is plenty of opportunity to spoil yourself rotten! The pamper gifts are great for stressed-out mums or anyone who is overworked. The Ultimate Massage and Pamper Package is the best of the range and gives ladies an opportunity to experience a day that is all about them!

Indulge:

Sometimes sitting back with a glass of wine and a sweet treat is all that we need in life. If you like to indulge in the naughty things then take a cupcake baking class! Because you’re learning something, you won’t feel as guilty!

Play:

If you’re the active type then get outdoors and do something crazy! You’ve gained an hour of your life back so why don’t you use that time to Trapeze through the air! WHAT!? How can you possibly beat that??

With Christmas coming up I know many of us could use some help save some time at the shopping centres! In fact, one of our Lasooers recently told us on Facebook that with the help of Lasoo- she has already completed her Christmas Shopping- 8 weeks early!

Are you saving time by shopping with Lasoo?

So get out there, have fun and enjoy the hour Lasoo has saved you!

Halloween hosting - how to throw a party the kids will remember forever!

We say we’re doing it for the kids and we pretend it’s a bit of a pain, but really, who doesn’t love the opportunity to dress up, indulge in treats and tick the best mummy (no pun intended) box at the same time?

Lasoo has got you covered, from costumes to trick or treats!

This year, try hosting a Halloween party at home - one the kids will remember forever.

Here are some of Lasoo’s creative tips for Halloween party activities to help you go ‘all out’ this year.

Spooky Treats

Pull out your recipe book and find a simple shortbread number to bake creepy crawly snacks with the kids. Cut and shape the shortbread into Halloween pumpkins, floating ghosts and candles. Top with coloured icing sugar for a delicious party pit stop bite.

Jack-o lanterns

Get crafty making paper lanterns to decorate the house. Simply draw ghosts and ghouls with the kids on A4 paper then curl and staple into a cylinder and attach with string to doorframes, light fixtures and anything else where they can proudly be displayed.

Story time

Gather the kids in a circle for some dimmed light for some Zombie tale time. Telling the story as your audience sits with eyes closed and hands out to feel props, such as canned spaghetti brains and peeled sausages zombie fingers, will have the crowd in shrieking laughter.

And don’t forget the torch lights!

Weight Loss Products: Fact vs Fiction?

Weight Loss Products: Fact vs Fiction?

Want to know what to do if you want to shed the kilos before the summer hits?

Weight loss is a balancing act between good food, good movement and a little extra help. Lasoo has a variety of weight loss products to combine with your diet and exercise to ensure you get the results you want.

Spring is here which means acting now gives you a head start on preparing your beautiful bikini body!

Here are three simple steps to combine those weight-loss elements into an easy daily routine. Remember, it’s all about balance and consistency!

STEP ONE: The morning is prime time for activating your body. Exercising before food means that the meal you eat after a workout will be metabolised much quicker and more efficiently. Head out the door for a 20 minute power walk (or if you walk to work you can count that as your 20 minutes of body activation) or better yet, pick up an all weather in-door training bike from Lasoo for ease.

STEP TWO: Breakfast should be your most carbohydrate-filled meal of the day (but with a low GI so you don’t simply use all the energy and feel burnt out). Keep this in mind and make sure to minimise meal sizes as the day goes on, introducing protein as you go.

STEP THREE: Supplement lunch with a weight loss high protein shake to give your program that final kick it needs.

Forget fanatic, yoyo dieting and solitary hours spent at the gym, with a sensible and easy daily routine like this, you’ll see steady and long lasting weight-loss success.

Stress-free family travel – it’s possible right?

Stress free family travel means being well prepared, having all the essentials covered and children entertained – it sounds difficult but it really doesn’t have to be!

Tackle the trip in stages, focusing on what you’ll need for the journey, at the location and what little extras will come in handy.

Firstly, except that you don’t know the way and can’t read maps, and get an in-car navigation system. It will take the stress away from riving and get you to your destination much quicker!

If you’re normally used to hearing “are we there yet” repeated hundreds upon hundreds of times, then get the kids a portable DVD player and let them watch movies. They’ll not want to get there any faster when they have something good to watch!

Depending on the type of holiday you’re having, you’ll need to pack different essentials. If you’re having a family camping holiday, firstly we commend how brave you are, and secondly, take a look at our Outdoor Living section in order to create a home away from home – it really is amazing what you can build these days! We especially love the Brazilian Sofa Hammock and would gladly take this home to put in the garden!

If you’re heading to the beach, then it’s important to protect your family against the sun. Beach umbrellas are a cost effective and stylish way to do this. They also make it easier for your children to spot where you are just in case they end up wondering too far.

It pays to be prepared for anything on a family holiday – excited kids are usually clumsy kids! Our first aid kits and supplies section has everything from eucalyptus spray to Band-Aids and bandages.
