Milkshake Sugar Frosting

Milkshake Sugar Frosting

I was literally just at my beautician when I discovered the subject of today’s blog.

This was a most fortunate event as I have to confess that up until that point, I had no clue as to what I was going to blog about today.

No, this isn’t something you can eat, although you’d be forgiven for thinking that. Milkshake Sugar Frosting is actually a brand new Australian product for concealing hair regrowth (yes, including greys!) between salon visits.

Milkshake isn’t an actual hair dye you can apply at home. It’s a loose powder that can be applied using the included brush to any areas that need it. Once you powder it will last between 8 and 20 hours, and according to my beautician, a tin will last around six months if you’re using it fairly regularly (of course, you don’t need to use it on days when your hair is freshly coloured or if you’re lounging around at home and no one is going to see you). Just think of it as foundation for the roots of your hair.

Bonus: it’s also a dry shampoo and absorbs oil at the roots in-between washes.

The “flavour” names themselves are enough to make you drool: vanilla cupcake blonde, milk chocolate brunette, raspberry creme redhead and boysenberry black. I had a smell of the brunette flavour and it smells like sweet cocoa powder.

A tin of Milkshake Sugar Frosting costs $60. It’s available at selected hair salons and name stores around Australia. If you’re around the north side of Sydney, I can tell you that it is definitely stocked at Blonde & Beyond in Neutral Bay.

I just bought some from Prema in Bondi Junction, genius stuff! Love the name too. Spilt Milk Mineral Hair Powder rocks. Am moving to London soon does it sell there?

Loving my Mineral Hair Powder by Spilt Milk. Was using Kevin Murphy powder puff which was ok but doesn't last long in comparrison and feel's foul in my hair. Basically matted it and terrible in washing out! I'm much happier with Spilt Milk and will most certainly continue to use it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yup this stuff is unreal. Covers my dark roots so well that I think I can get away with "natural blonde". Thanks.

Had to pick up a canister after reading all of this. Found a stockists page on their website, thanks for adding it! I have to say I have never smelt anything more yummy in my life, I don't know if you've tried the copper but wow!! I'm actually looking forward to getting re-growth! I agree I think the $66 price tag is certainly worth it given that the feedback on it is very strong and positive and the product lasts quite some time. The hairdresser I bought it from said that it's natural also so I don't mind investing in quality that lasts. Thanks again!

I have been searching the net for my hairdresser. and have been worried that they stopped making this product. I use the blond at least once a week. Its a great product- I also got mine on Oz sales. as i couldnt justify the $66. RRP at the time but now cant got without it. Thanks Brig for continuing on, I tell everyone about the product and now my hairdresser is going to love me more.

Oh my gosh I LOVE this stuff! I am so excited that they're back! I just bought a box from my hairdressing salon in Lane Cove, Tres Jolie and it's such a miracle powder! They've rebranded to Spilt Milk Mineral Hair Powder and reformulated apparently. This stuff smells so amazing in your hair! http://www.spiltmilk.net.au

Got some of this off that shopping website Ozsale think I paid only $12 or so for 3 packs such a bargain and it works wonderings it also makes the hair look thicker as it conceals any thiner spots and regrowth. Being a dark blonde with almost black dyed hair my regrowth often looks like I'm balding or greying and this stuff is a complete saviour.
The packaging is really cute too. Will continue to buy it even if I have to pay the RRP!

I really like this beauty things to be honest. I will show the website to my wife cause she is a lot more into these things. I'm sure she will be happy to read it.
