New Witchery collection

New Witchery collection

Witchery has unveiled its new season collection and there looks to be some nice pieces that would be perfect for the in-between weather of autumn.

The new Witchery collection features lots of mushroom and neutral shades, as you’d expect from Witchery, plus a few splashes of bright colour thrown in for good measure.

The oversized drape tank pictured here is really nice, though at $89.95 it may be a little overpriced for what it is. Nevertheless it would look nice with blue jeans and heels for a casual night out.

I’m also a fan of this sateen pencil skirt with zip detailing ($129.95) - perfect for the office.

However in my opinion this garishly coloured zip front print jumpsuit ($169.95) is a giant miss and should be avoided at all costs.

Jeanswest shorts and t-shirt offer

Jeanswest shorts and t-shirt offer

Well it’s officially hot and humid in Sydney and even the thought of wearing jeans is making my stomach turn at the moment.

And it’s only going to get hotter in February, so now is the time to stock up on shorts and t-shirts for the days ahead. (For the weekends and after work, of course. I don’t recommend wearing shorts and a t-shirt to the office.)

Jeanswest has a great offer on for men and women at the moment - pay just $59.99 for shorts and a t-shirt (offer available in-store only).

I’m probably getting a little long in the tooth to be wearing denim shorts, but these white canvas shorts are fairly respectable. They would work well with this black and white tank top.

Jeanwest store locations are available at the website.

Creative Zen MX review

Creative Zen MX review

The Creative Zen MX MP3 player is a pared-down version of the popular Zen model, adding “incredible value and convenience of use” to the old player’s feature set.

Just like its predecessor, the Creative Zen MX is an extremely portable player. It weighs in at less than 70g and is compact enough to fit comfortably into most pockets. It features a 2.5-inch glossy QVGA display which can display 16.7 million colours.

It’s a flash memory player, so to use the Creative Zen MX you simply connect it to your computer using the included mini-USB cable to transfer you music, video and photos. If the internal memory (8GB or 16GB) isn’t enough, it’s expandable by SD/SDHC card.

Unfortunately file format support is one of this player’s weaknesses. The only audio format supported are the standard MP3, WMA, WAV and Audible 4. Creative’s proprietary CMV format is the only video format supported.

Thankfully, Creative has equipped the Zen MX with some extra features to make up for the lack of extensive file format support, including an FM radio with 32 preset stations, voice recorder, alarm and basic organiser features.

The Creative Zen MX MP3 player is on sale in Australia now with a recommended retail price of $119.95 (8GB) or $159.95 (16GB).

Nine West sale

Nine West sale

They say that you’re either a shoe person or a bag person, and while I’m definitely all about the shoes, it’s occurred to me lately that I’ve been neglecting myself in the bag department.

While I have about six billion pairs of shoes that I rarely wear, I have one “everyday” handbag that has copped a beating over the past couple of years and I think it’s time for a new one.

I went into Nine West the other day to check out their sale and while I wasn’t that impressed by any of the shoes, there are some nice bags marked down at the moment.

This pink hobo bag is my favourite of the reduced items and is a nice step away from the usual black bags and accessories you see around. It’s reduced to $99.

And while we’re at it, cast your eyes over to the left and vote in our poll. Are you all about the bags or the shoes? Or are you a bloke and think it’s simply too inane a topic to care?

LG GD910 3G watch phone review

LG GD910 3G watch phone review

If you like your gadgets to be cutting-edge and to have a definite “wow” factor, then you’ll love the new LG GD910 3G watch phone.

This gadget may look like a watch, but it’s actually a fully-functional 3G mobile phone - plus some added extras. As you’d expect, this is a touchscreen phone (no hidden keyboards here), so if you have bigger fingers, be warned that you may find the 1.43-inch touchscreen somewhat difficult to navigate. You use this screen to switch between screens (main menu, status, calendar and quick dial) or between eight different clock displays.

LG has also equipped the GD910 3G watch phone with some nice extras, including Bluetooth connectivity, voice commands, a basic organiser and basic MP3 player. There’s also a VGA camera to take still photos, however resolution is quite poor, coming in at under one megapixel. You’ll also find an LG HBM-900 Bluetooth headset in the box, which you can pair with the watch phone to listen to music and make phone calls.

Last but not least, there is also the design to consider. The LG GD910’s looks aren’t anywhere near the class of traditional watches in its price range. That being said, it’s not the shabbiest-looking watch around either. The front of the watch features a stainless steel border plus the back is solid stainless steel. The strap is made of leather and the remaining finishes are fashioned from black plastic.

The LG GD910 3G watch phone is available now in Australian with a recommended retail price of $2299.

CC Skye Blossom ring

CC Skye Blossom ring

A nice extravagant cocktail ring is one of my favourite fashion indulgences and at the moment I am torturing myself by looking at pictures of this CC Skye Blossom ring, which I desperately want but can ill afford.

It’s a beautiful, chunky art-deco cocktail ring that features over a hundred Swarovski crystals individually hand-set on a black enamel and gold detail cone disc. This is a very large ring so it’s definitely not one for anyone who likes their jewellery understated.

I’ve had a look around online and the cheapest place I could find to buy it was at ShopBop.com - you can pick it up in a size 6 or 7 for US$245 (AU$267) plus free international shipping.

Unfortunately I won’t be buying it, but I can always dream.

Motorola Milestone review

Motorola Milestone review

These days everyone seems to be waiting to see if an Android phone will bring the iPhone’s reign to an end - and the Motorola Milestone is one smartphone that shapes up better than its Android phone predecessors.

Released in the US as the Motorola Droid, the Milestone lacks the iPhone’s aesthetic graces but makes up for it in the features and performance department.

The Motorola Milestone runs on the latest version of the Google Android platform (2.0), which is far more responsive than previous operating systems. It features a gorgeous 3.7-inch 480×800 pixel WVGA display, which hosts a full on-screen QWERTY keyboard. However if touchscreens aren’t your thing, you can slide out the traditional QWERTY keyboard underneath to operate the phone.

The main advantage of Google Android phones is access to Google Apps, and the Milestone comes with a number of them pre-installed, including the ever-popular Gmail. However if you need more apps you can always visit the Android Market, which is Google’s answer to the Apple App Store. There you can choose from over 20,000 apps to download.

The Motorola Milestone also offers some decent multimedia functionality, including a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, a basic music player, media sync software and a 3.5mm headphone socket for standard headphone connectivity. Memory is expandable to 16GB using a microSD card and it comes with an 8GB card in the box. Obviously these multimedia specifications aren’t as generous as the iPhone’s - and that is really the area where Apple excels.

The Motorola Milestone is availabe in Australia through online vendors with a recommended retail price of $849.
