The new Sony PSP Go handheld console bravely goes where no PSP has gone before… that is, into many people’s pockets.
For while the PSP has always been a handheld console, in the past it wasn’t really that pocket-friendly, unless you happened to favour clothes with cavernous pockets. The Sony PSP Go, however, measures in at just 128mm thick and is considerably lighter than previous PSPs, weighing around 160g.
Naturally this has led to shrinkage right across the board. The screen has been reduced by a half-inch to 3.8-inches, though resolution remains at 480×272. The controls have also been hidden away under the sliding screen and are not visible until you pop the screen out.
Sony has equipped the PSP Go with Bluetooth - so you can pair it up with a wireless PS3 controller or a Bluetooth headset - as well as Wi-Fi and a web browser. You can use the on-board Microphone with Skype (which comes bundled) to make phone calls; while Remote Play lets you stream content from your registered PS3. It supports a range of music and video formats including MP3, AAC, WMA and MPEG4.
The Sony PSP Go’s Australian price is $449 and it is available now.

Marc Jacobs’ newest perfume is called Lola and despite the fact I haven’t so much as caught a whiff of it yet, I’m already in love.
Can we start with the gorgeous packaging? I am totally sold on the bottle alone. Yes, I know it’s stupid to buy perfume based on the bottle, but I can’t help it. It’s just so unique and pretty.
Then there is the name. Lola. I love that name so much. I love it so much I even have an animal called that. It means “sorrows” in Spanish and is quite a beautiful and poetic name.
Then there is the fact that Marc Jacobs has never produced a perfume that I don’t like. The original is still the best for me, but Daisy and Blush are nice too. Marc Jacobs Lola, however, sounds like something else altogether, thanks to the base notes of pink peppercorn, pear, and ruby red grapefruit; the midnotes of rose, fuschia peony and geranium, and the top notes of vanilla, tonka bean and musk.
I can’t wait to get to a Myer store to check it out. A 50ml bottle of Marc Jacobs Lola costs $120.

If you need a new BBQ, outdoor setting or shed for summer, you should definitely check out Stratco’s weekly auctions for World Vision before you buy anything.
Stratco is donating one product each week which you can bid on with no reserve, with all the proceeds going to Stratco’s Water for the World Project in partnership with World Vision’s Water Health Life Program.
This week’s auction - which runs until October 5 - is a Vega 4 Burner Hooded BBQ, and the highest bidder will win, so you could pick up a real bargain. Last time I checked in the bidding was up to $170, though it will most definitely go higher than that.
The coming weeks will also see two sheds and a Dorward seven-piece outdoor setting being auctioned off for this great cause so check back during October to bid.

The TDK Life on Record iVibe is a brand new wall-mountable iPod speaker from the manufacturer that also doubles as an FM radio and alarm clock.
The speaker can either be used with its stand sitting flat, as pictured here, or the stand can be folded back flash against the unit and then the whole lot mounted on a wall (the wall hooks are found on the base of the stand).
While this is a great idea in theory, some people may find that a wall-mounted speaker with an iPod docked on top may be somewhat out of place in their decor. However if this isn’t a problem for you, the unit itself is quite discreet and sleek enough to blend in on most walls.
Thanks to the in-built alarm and sleep timer, the TDK Life on Record iVibe would probably work best mounted on the wall in a bedroom. There is also an FM radio and all the functions can be operated using the provided remote control.
To make sure you always get the best sound for whatever genre of music you’re listening to, TDK Life on Record has equipped the iVibe with five preset equaliser settings - pass, rock, pop, classic and jazz.
While this speaker has been specifically designed for the iPod, as evidenced by the universal dock, it also comes with a 3.5mm stereo socket so you can connect any external audio source, including most MP3 players.
The TDK Life on Record iVibe wall-mountable iPod speaker is available in Australia now with a recommended retail price of $229.95.

The spring racing carnival is nearly here and if you’re looking for dresses, Bebe has some decent options that won’t cost the earth.
I quite like the Bebe embroidered dress, pictured here, which would be nice for VRC Derby Day (when traditionally you should stick to black-and-white only).
I think you can just get away with the length of the hemline for racewear, but dresses that are any shorter should be avoided at the track, as you are going to the races, not a Blue Light disco. Of course, if you are attending an off-track event, go for gold with the shorter hemlines.
The Bebe embroidered dress sells for US$119 online.

The Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch is an inexpensive tablet that can be integrated with your PC to be used with creative work.
Tablets are generally the domain of designers and anyone who uses programs such as PhotoShop and Illustrator professionally, and they’re generally fairly expensive. But the Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch is in reach of non-professional creative-types, carrying a recommended retail price of $159.
The device can be used instead of your mouse to operate your computer, though this may take some getting used to for everyday functionality such as browsing the web. You do this by touching the tablet and gesturing what you want to do. This is particularly handy for rotating photos and the like.
When you need to do something that requires more precision - for example, editing photos - you can use the pen to draw on the screen. You can even use it to mark up word documents or make sketches.
Wacom has also equipped the Bamboo Pen & Touch with the Bamboo Dock, which holds all the device’s widgets and applications. One of the cooler ones allows you to draw a sketch then upload it to Twitter.
The device comes bundled with a range of software including Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, which adds to the value of the $159 price tag.

The Myer mid-season sale has literally just started and if the catalogue is anything to go by, it looks to be another good one.
Some of the bargains on offer include 40% off selected women’s clothing, 40% off all Vue bath towels and 15% off plasma and LCD TVs.
I really like this Bardot jersey dress, which is a bit of a find at just $40 (it was originally $59.95). I love the colour and I also love the fact that it has pockets (or so it appears from the photo). I’m all about pockets at the moment, especially on dresses. They’re really handy if, like me, you are a naturally awkward and nervous person. Stick your hands in your pockets and your body language instantly says “relaxed” rather than screaming “it’s scaring me to talk to you”.

The Nokia 6710 Navigator is the manufacturer’s third entry in the series, which offers phones with an emphasis on GPS functionality.
And while the Nokia 6710 Navigator certainly offers excellent GPS performance, some may find the device’s 2.6-inch a little too small for reading purposes when you are using the phone for directions.
Screen size aside, the 6710’s GPS reception is exceptional (despite some minor glitches in city areas) and it comes bundled with a car mount and Nokia Maps software (which is powered by Navteq maps). You can use the phone’s in-built touch panel to navigate around the maps and zoom in and out. The touch panel can also be used in the web browse, media gallery and with the camera.
The other highlight of the Nokia 6710 Navigator is the 5-megapixel camera, which offers a range of options including sequence shot mode and macro focus. Image quality is exceptional for a phone camera.
The Nokia 6710 Navigator’s Australian price is $629. It comes in either chestnut brown or titanium.
